Rosie, the Topology of the Torso by olivierduhamel Rosie, the Topology of the Torso by olivierduhamel
Executed with modern technologies, "Rosie" is a contemporary interpretation of a classical theme.
This has been made by laser cutting a sheet of mdf 3mm thick into 103 parts and then gluing them back together. Even though the "pancake" effects makes for an irregular surface, the amount of details that can be suggested is still amazing.

The laser leaves a dark burn mark on the side on the ply. As a result the sculptures appears dark or clear depending on the viewing angle, producing fascinating highlights.

When first looking, I thought to myself: Well, it probably works only in this angle, because of how the wood is cut.

Then I saw the turnaround gif and... :O
I'm impressed, really wonderful result, must be something really cool to see in person and be able to see all the angles. Congratulations on your DD and, most importantly, on your work. ^^

Great piece of art ..... So this was a plain wood sculpture and then cut with laser ...... Intereasting design, and I love the way it shines when you see it in a special angle :)
